Rental scam warnings
- ·Never pay before viewing the place in person, or via a verified video call.
- ·Legit landlords never ask for Western Union, crypto, gift cards, or wire to non-German accounts.
- ·“I’m abroad — send the deposit and I’ll mail the keys” = scam. Every time.
- ·Real Kaution (deposit) is 2–3 months cold rent, held in escrow, refunded when you move out.
- ·German IBANs start with DE. Any other IBAN for rent = red flag.
- ·If you're unsure, ask Seezeit or the Welcome Center to verify before paying.
